About this course

A self-paced course that teaches employees simple habits for how they come across in email, chat, video calls and professional profiles, and what not to share online about their employer or customers.

Who it is for

  • Employees in any role and industry who write messages, join video calls or keep a professional profile, in the office, at home or in the field.

  • Organizations that want optional, self-paced development courses in their learning system for employees to take on their own.

  • HR and training teams and business owners building an elective library without facilitators.

The problem it solves

Many people meet an employee through a message, a video call or a profile before they meet them in person. A sharp email sent in a hurry, a message left unanswered, a whiteboard visible on a video call or a photo that shows a customer's address can undo a good impression and put private information at risk. This course gives employees a four-step model for rereading before they send, replying in good time, coming to calls ready and checking what they share.

What is inside

E-learning (SCORM 1.2), about 20 minutes, 18 screens, text-only (no sound needed)

  • A starting self-check on eight everyday online habits, private to the learner

  • The Online Check: four steps, taught with examples from a furniture store, an electrical contractor, an accounting firm, a construction company and other workplaces

  • Flip cards, reveal-the-answer examples and channel tabs on the teaching screens

  • Three practice scenarios (a reply to a frustrated customer, preparing for a video call, and sharing a photo of finished work) with feedback on every choice

  • Clear guidance on what not to share online about customers, coworkers and your employer

  • A short quick check (not graded), a "try it this week" plan builder and a final self-check that compares before and now

  • A one-page pocket card download and a certificate of completion

Personal workbook (with the $199 option)

  • Printable PDF (13 pages) and editable Word file (14 pages)

  • Self-checks, the model card, a second-read checklist, a five-minute call check, a share check, practice reflections, situation planners, a 30-day plan and a progress tracker

How it works in your LMS

  1. Upload the SCORM 1.2 zip as an optional course.

  2. Employees take it at their own pace; it remembers where they stopped.

  3. The course reports completed when the learner reaches the certificate. There is no pass mark. If the learner takes the quick check, the score is reported for information only.

  4. Self-check answers and plans stay on the learner's device and are not sent to the LMS.

Formats and file types

  • SCORM 1.2 zip (0.9 MB), runs offline with packaged fonts, works on desktop and phone.

  • Workbook: PDF (13 pages, US Letter) and Word (.docx, 14 pages).

Frequently asked questions

Is this required training?

No. It is designed as an elective course that employees choose and complete on their own.

Does it need sound?

No. The course is text-only, with illustrations and interactions on the teaching screens.

Does it name specific apps or social networks?

No. It uses general terms such as "video call", "team chat" and "professional networking profile", so it works with whatever tools your organization uses.

Does it replace our social media policy?

No. The course tells employees to follow their employer's confidentiality and social media policies. It is not legal advice.

Can a manager see an employee's self-check answers?

No. They stay in the course on the learner's device. The LMS receives completion and, if taken, the quick check score.
