About this tool

Twenty-four AI prompts for every step of designing training, from the first questions about a request to quiz writing and pilot feedback, each with an accuracy check so nothing wrong reaches a learner.

Who it is for

  • Instructional designers who want faster first drafts without losing accuracy.

  • Trainers who build their own sessions, slides and handouts.

  • Subject experts who have been asked to teach what they know.

  • Managers and people who run small businesses and train their own staff, with no training team.

  • HR and L&D leads setting safe rules for AI use in training work.

The problem it solves

AI tools can draft questions, outlines, scenarios and quizzes in minutes, but they fill gaps with steps that sound right and do not exist, and in training a wrong step gets taught to everyone. This library gives you prompts for each design step, written to use your approved source material, plus three accuracy checks (source, expert and job) and a log that records who checked what.

What is inside

  • Before you start: privacy and how to use this library (page 1; 1 page)

  • Copyright and License (page 2; 1 page)

  • Guide: where AI helps and the three accuracy checks (page 3; 1 page)

  • Guide: how to write a design prompt, with variations by format (page 4; 1 page)

  • Guide: worked example and common mistakes (pages 5 to 6; 2 pages)

  • The 24 prompts, by design step, with accuracy checks (pages 7 to 14; 8 pages)

  • Template: AI use log for a training project (page 15; 1 page)

  • Editable Word version of everything above (20 pages)

The 24 prompts follow six design steps: understand the request (4), learning goals and outline (4), write the content (5), build practice (4), check learning (3) and review and improve (4). None of them repeat the KA AI Prompt Library for Everyday Work.

How to use it

  1. Read the privacy rules and the guide pages before you use any prompt.

  2. Find the design step you are working on, then the prompt that fits.

  3. Paste approved source material, with private details replaced by labels.

  4. Review the output with the accuracy check under the prompt and the three accuracy checks.

  5. Record each piece in the AI use log, with who reviewed it.

Formats and file types

  • Printable PDF (15 pages), US Letter.

  • Editable Word file (.docx, 20 pages): copy prompts straight from the file and keep your AI use log in it.

Frequently asked questions

Which AI tool do these prompts work with?

Any AI chat tool. Check your company's AI policy and use only the tools your workplace has approved.

Do I need to know instructional design terms?

No. Each term, such as learning goal, job aid or branching scenario, is explained in plain words, and every prompt has a finished example.

Can I trust AI-written quiz questions and answer keys?

Not without checking. Every assessment prompt includes an accuracy check, and the guide explains how to confirm each answer against your source and with a subject expert.
